Punjab Chief Minster Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that any person or group involved in creating law and order should be dealt according to the law because nobody is above law.

He was talking to reporters after presiding over 3-day international conference “History, Politics and Society: The Punjab” which started at the Punjab University, New Campus on Monday.

Speaking at the conference, the chief minister said the provision of speedy justice, peace and education and health facilities to the common man was the top priority of the Punjab government.

Shahbaz Sharif said Punjab had been an ancient cradle of culture, civilization and lofty traditions which had promoted creative thoughts, humanism and generally broadminded and forward-looking approach to life among its people.

“The poetry of Sufi-poets of the region still inspires the masses and following the same cause of enlightenment the Punjab government is spending an unprecedented amount of one- tenth of its development budget on education sector”, he added.

He said that a prominent feature emerging from the interplay of the diverse historical influences is the great Sufi tradition of the Punjab which essentially stood for peace, equality, friendship and a multi-religious and multi-ethnic social and political existence.

He said that Punjab had a lot to offer in terms of the ingredients of a happy blend of human values the contemporary words is looking for.

The chief minister said that the present government was endeavoring to provide a better healthcare system, speedy justice and overall good governance which, in turn, should promote peace, harmony and creativity in the society.
